Interns 'Practice Teaching' during training

Digital Opportunity Trust Kenya (DOT Kenya) is a branch of Digital Opportunity Trust (DOT) based in Canada. DOT Kenya is implementing DOT’s pioneering Reach Up! program, and creating economic opportunities for youth and disenfranchised communities.

DOT Kenya’s vision is to become a model youth initiative for the region and driving community development at a grassroots level powered by the energy and enthusiasm of youth, enabled by the application of ICTs.

DOT Kenya will serve the ICT4D market in Kenya by:

  • Facilitating the changing of perceptions about ICTs
  • Providing programs that fit the market needs and are easily accessible
  • Promoting entrepreneurship, innovation and linkages to other business resources at the community level
  • Driving community based social and economic development through the application of 21st century skills, approaches and technology

Impact at a Glance

Since its inception in 2006, 1051 Kenyan community participants have benefited from the ReachUp! program.  A total of 35 DOT Kenya Interns have been trained to deliver the program to local communities.
