Deployment
As an organization committed to technology, DOT explores global opportunities that will support the growth of our programs by local means within three years of establishment.
Among the criteria for country selection includes the following:
- A country whose infrastructure can support new ICT initiatives
- A stable and respected government that is open and willing to adopt technology
- A well established legal system, a good investment climate and the ability to set up a DOT branch office
- A clear need for the program in the country with public and private funders, government or other NGO support
- Emphasis on our priority areas including: workforce & private sector development, entrepreneurship, teacher enablement, and empowerment of women and youth.
- A perceived good return on our investment through the multiplier effect of communities and the ability to scale to other countries in the region.
Once a country is selected, DOT establishes a small team of local professionals to run the program, which is facilitated, guided and resourced by regional and global DOT management. Through our Program Vision Workshop approach, we develop a national stakeholder team that is aligned in a vision for the program and guides its implementation in priority areas deemed critical to funding bodies, government, industry groups and other key NGO’s. This ensures our programs are delivered to a set of global quality and standards yet within the local context of the country, its customs and its people.
